Singing the blues in San Francisco and beyond


hi dear friends – we just celebrated deva’s 40th in santa fe new mexico.

the people were so sweet – the whole theater sang happy birthday to her when we began the concert....but more on that soon...we have a video of it which i will post soon.

meanwhile, some pix from san francisco concert. the warfield theater is a monument in terms of rock music. everyone from the grateful dead to david bowie has graced the stage...and to think we were bringing kirtan and mantras to such an auspicious venue blew me away.

i used to play at venues like this when i was much younger, but always as an opening act - never dreaming that one day - in my 60’s! - i’d be returning as a ‘headliner' - to sing mantras. life sure is mysterious.

deva, of course, glides through it all in the most surreal and gracious way!

it was our best concert – for me anyway – the sound, the playing, the choice of material (it always changes!), and so many friends in the audience.

i have good memories of the concert, because we made a decision to play a completely new set.

    I came to the Santa Fe show to see Krishna Das. I love his music~~ I did not know who Deva Premal, Mitten, and Manos are. Friends raved about your music as we entered the theatre, so I expected something very nice~~~Your music greeted me with so much more... To my great surprise I was amazingly transported by your music to a lovely and sacred space, the moment you began (after the birthday song of course). Your music felt like home to me. I could breath in deeply the the whole event, and enjoy the space in- between... Om Namah Shivia, ~B~
